Note: In this policy, “members” refers to the faculty-in-charge and student members of the LHSS Collective. Please refer to the “About Us” section on our website for the details of the members.
How and why do we collect data:
We collect information when you visit our site, and subscribe to our campaigns or mailing lists. We’ll let you know what information is required for each action, and try to require the least amount of information necessary. We collect data primarily for the purposes of contacting authors for their Blog submissions. This includes personal data such as mail address, mobile number, institution affiliation, etc. This data is collected via google forms which authors are required to fill while submitting any article for consideration. For any other project you may be involved in, we might request you for your contact details.
We collect information regarding visits to our website. Like most servers, IP addresses [which include location data, browser, operating system, visiting time (local and server), session, actions per visit, page views per visit, returning visitors, and referring site information] are logged automatically on access to our website however these IP addresses are not tied or collated against the responses that you send by using our forms. We undertake to delete these IP logs after a retention period as mentioned below.
What do we do with the data:
We use your mail address to respond to submissions and queries. We may use your mobile number to follow-up for submissions and any other relevant project you are involved in, only when we receive no/adequate response on emails. We do not share your data with any third-party; except with your consent or if compelled by law.
Where and how we store your data:
We store the data collected via google forms in an excel sheet that is accessible by all members of the LHSS Collective. However, it is only the editors and the tech team that usually access the excel sheet or the google form.
How often do we access/destroy your data:
Accessing data: We access your data only when responding to submissions received by authors, or when following up on submissions (this may include calling the authors directly).
Destroying data: We destroy all collected data (except data concerning any ongoing project) at the start of every academic semester (August and February). We do not keep copies of the collected data.
Social Media and third-party platforms
We use social media and third-party platforms for our activities. These platforms and applications are often provided by third party service providers. Please see their privacy policies for more information.
Third-Party Services and APIs
The Collective’s site also provides links to or interacts with a wide variety of third-party websites, including interactive links to sites like social media, telephone calling services, mapping services, or video hosting websites, often via application programming interfaces (APIs). The Collective is not responsible for, and does not have any control over, the privacy practices or the content of such third parties.
Updating or Removing Your Information
You may choose to correct, update, access, or delete the membership information you have submitted to us by sending an email requesting changes to email@example.com. Your consent to our use of your information is very important to us. If you would like to withdraw your consent to receive the updates and other bulk emails, you may write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
